She was found dead in an apartment on Manhattan in New York on Wednesday, reports ABC News with reference to police sources.
Michelle Trachtenberg, who recently underwent a liver transplant, is believed to have died of natural causes and the police do not suspect any crime. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
Trachtenberg grew up in New York and was noticed early as a child star in Nickelodeon productions such as "The Adventure of Pete and Pete" and "Harriet - The Little Spy".
The breakthrough came in the role as Dawn Summers in "Buffy". She joined in 2000 and played for three seasons as the little sister of Sarah Michelle Gellar's Buffy.
A few years later, she celebrated new successes as Georgina Sparks in "Gossip Girl", where she played alongside Blake Lively and Leighton Meester between 2008 and 2012. She made a guest appearance in the reboot of the series in 2022.
