The new version, called Gemini 4 Argon, will, according to the company, mean improved performance in terms of, among other things, coding and cybersecurity.
Initially, the new model will only be available to certain Google partners, with a broader rollout to follow in stages.
Google employees are divided on how Gemini 4 stacks up against the competition, Bloomberg reports, citing sources. Some believe it can compete with both OpenAI's and Anthropic's latest models, while others say it underperforms in areas such as coding.
