"My spontaneous feeling was that we could have had a tougher draw, but it turned out to be a fun group that could bring intense crowd pressure, especially in North Macedonia and Greece. It's fun to sometimes face countries other than those we've often faced in recent years," national coach Michael Apelgren said after Thursday night's qualifying draw.
The top two teams in the group will secure a place at Euro 2028, which will be held in Spain, Portugal and Switzerland. The qualifiers will begin in November and end in May next year.
Of Sweden's qualifying opponents, only North Macedonia participated in the European Championship earlier this year. North Macedonia managed to take a shock point against Portugal in the first group game but were still eliminated and finished the European Championship in 14th place.
