On pictures that the Korn Ferry tour has published on social media, you can see how McCormick plays with transparent tape over his mouth and a sour expression.

I haven't had so much fun on the golf course this year, I've been pretty angry and sour. I've tried a lot of things and then I just thought I'd get myself to shut up, he says in an interview on the tour's Instagram.

Did it help? No, not directly since Ryan McCormick missed the cut after weak play, and therefore won't be playing further over the weekend. The American played on the PGA tour in 2024 but slid back to the secondary tour Korn Ferry again, where he hasn't shone so far this year.

The 33-year-old has read books and tried to talk about setbacks to mitigate the angry outbursts, but nothing has helped. The tape was a last straw to avoid creating a negative atmosphere for his fellow players on the course, he says.

I'm having a tough time and that became my solution.
