"Paige Dean (Straka's wife) and I are pleased to announce that we are preparing for our son, Thomas, to come home in the coming weeks after spending his first two months of life in intensive care," he said in a statement.
The good news means – in addition to missing the playoffs – that Straka will not be able to meet the requirement for enough starts on the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour) to be allowed to play on the tour next season.
But he doesn't have to think about that now.
The Tour writes on its website that Straka, "taking into account his serious personal circumstances since August, which have naturally affected his ability to travel and compete," will be allowed to retain his membership next season.
Sepp Straka is 15th in the world rankings and was part of the European team that won the 2025 Ryder Cup.
