"Harry Bild had a fantastic football career behind him in both Sweden and abroad. He also had a successful national team career and was awarded several different awards throughout the years", the club writes.
Bild was recruited as a 19-year-old to IFK Norrköping where he won four Swedish Championships before becoming a foreign pro, first in Swiss FC Zürich and then in Feyenoord in the Dutch league.
Björn Nordqvist, long-time national team captain, played both with and against Harry Bild during his career.
"Tough and persistent"
In your portrait of Bild 2022 on IFK Norrköping's website, Nordqvist said:
"Harry was tough and persistent and shot at almost everything. He had a good shot and a short dribble. Fast and a skilled dribbler. His persistence would take him far. Because even if he had missed some chances, he always continued to try."
"As soon as he got hold of the ball, he looked for a shot. He could shoot five shots up on the Hill (the former natural standing section at Parken in Norrköping). Others might have held back and passed to a teammate next time. Not Harry."
Bild didn't miss a single match during eight seasons in IFK Norrköping. Then he broke his leg twice during the same season in Zürich. After a period in Feyenoord – where he played together with Ove Kindvall for a season – he moved to Öster.
Won gold with Öster
It was like coming home for Bild, born in Nöbbele in Växjö municipality. With Bild in the team, Öster won the Allsvenskan as newcomers in 1968.
"I thought I would go home and slow down, but it didn't turn out that way", said Harry Bild.
He scored 207 goals in 359 matches for IFK Norrköping, Zürich, Feyenoord, and Öster. Bild played 28 A-international matches, scoring 13 goals.
Harry Bild was 88 years old.
