NHL goalkeeper Igor Sjestjorkin has signed a new contract with his club New York Rangers. According to several sources, he is now the highest-paid goalkeeper in the league so far.
Sjestjorkin, who turns 29 on December 30, is said to have signed an eight-year contract worth 92 million dollars, equivalent to just over one billion Swedish kronor. The previously highest-paid goalkeeper was Carey Price, who in 2017 signed an eight-year contract with Montreal worth 84 million dollars, equivalent to just over 900 million kronor.
New York Rangers have not yet released the details of the contract, and Igor Sjestjorkin himself did not want to comment after Rangers' 4–2 win over Pittsburgh on Friday night.
I can't say anything more. We might be able to talk about it tomorrow, said Sjestjorkin.
