A little over a week before the SHL premiere, Skellefteå has received a heavy injury message. Goalkeeper Linus Söderström is forced to undergo surgery and is not expected to be back in play before the turn of the year. The club also has fellow goalkeeper Gustaf Lindvall on the injury list right now.

”It's not about a new injury, but about troubles that have existed since February. It has looked good at times, but since we've been on ice, we can see that Linus can't load fully, which makes an intervention now necessary”, says Karin Granberg, responsible doctor in the club, in a press release about Söderström's injury.

It's a lower body injury and an operation is pending.

”The recovery time is controlled by how both the intervention and the rehabilitation develop, but as it looks right now, it's not likely with play before the turn of the year”, says Karin Granberg.

Skellefteå's general manager Erik Forssell:

”We're already looking at alternatives to bring in a goalkeeper and are hopeful about the situation”.

This means that Skellefteå currently has two of its three regular goalkeepers long-term injured. Doctor Karin Granberg confirms to Norran that Gustaf Lindvall is also far from a comeback.

Unfortunately, Gustaf has gotten back his previous injury concerns again after trying to increase his load, says Granberg to the newspaper.

New acquisition Jani Lampinen (from Allsvenskan Mora) is the only goalkeeper that Skellefteå has who is playable.

Skellefteå meets the newcomer Djurgården on away ground in the SHL premiere on September 13.
