Viktor Gyökeres started the match on the bench – but the goal success continues anyway. When the Swedish attacking star finally came on in the league cup quarterfinal against Nacional, it happened twice:
+ In the 65th minute, Gyökeres, who jumped in for Sporting at halftime, scored 2–0 on a penalty.
+ Five minutes later, he thundered in a beautiful free kick that meant 3–1 in front of the home crowd at José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon.
The 26-year-old has previously this season scored twelve goals in the Portuguese league and two in the Champions League.
Maybe the cup match against Nacional, which ended 3–1, was Viktor Gyökeres' last match with Ruben Amorim as coach. Much suggests that Manchester United will buy out Amorim from Sporting, to let him replace the recently fired Erik ten Hag.
