Vancouver's Drew O'Connor scored 14:50 into the first period to make it 1–0. A minute later, the score was 2–1 to the Canadians.
In the second period, the Swedes woke up. Florida's Gustav Forsling and Jesper Boqvist played to the 3–2 and 4–2 goals, respectively, while Vancouver star Elias Pettersson reduced the deficit twice.
