Star defender Axel Andersson scored a hat-trick and Nicklas Bäckström continues to deliver goal-scoring passes for his Brynäs team. The 37-year-old scored three against Timrå as the Gävle team won 8–5.

SHL eighth-placed Brynäs had a nice day at work. At least offensively, and the team's stars delivered points.

Jakob Silfverberg scored one goal and two assists. National team defender Axel Andersson did not want to be inferior and accounted for three goals and one assist. The team's assist king Nicklas Bäckström? Yes, he was behind two of Andersson's goals and also Silfverberg's.

"I didn't think I would go here today and score a hat-trick. But the most important thing was that we won," Andersson, who has missed the team's last three matches due to injury, told TV4.

The match itself was a tight affair. The home team led 3–1 after the first, 5–3 after the second, but with barely a minute left, Timrå were only one goal behind. Then Lucas Pettersson and Oskar Lindblom each scored for Brynäs within 23 seconds, making the final score 8–5.

"It's probably a coach's nightmare match when it happens like this. It's fun to play, but not to concede so many goals," says Andersson.

With his three assists, Bäckström is now second in the SHL's assist league with 16 in total.
