The family of Virginia Giuffre, who accused Britain's former Prince Andrew of rape, are relieved after his arrest.

"Finally, today, our broken hearts have been comforted by the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty," Giuffre's siblings said in a statement shared with CBS News.

The family expressed gratitude to the police for Thursday's arrest.

"He was never a prince. To survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you," the siblings said.

Virginia Giuffre accused then-Prince Andrew of raping her in 2001, when she was 17. Giuffre sued Andrew in 2021, and the parties reached a settlement the following year. However, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor did not admit any guilt.

Virginia Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025, at the age of 41.
