The Government has decided to extend the period from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026. Culture Minister Parisa Liljestrand (The Moderate Party) emphasizes Ørskous long experience in the museum world and her solid academic background "in art history and leadership".

"I have full confidence that she will be able to lead the process forward with a potential upcoming organizational change if the Government decides on such", says Liljestrand.

To reduce the number of authorities, the Government wants to incorporate Arkdes and the State Art Council into the Moderna Museum, which has sparked criticism. A merger would mean that the three would lose their "cultural uniqueness and vitality", writes, for example, the Royal Academy of Arts in its consultation response.

Gitte Ørskou has been the superintendent and head of the Moderna Museum since 2019.
