Fashion icon Giorgio Armani was laid to rest at a private funeral ceremony in his hometown Rivalta, near Piacenza in northern Italy.
The funeral itself took place in the circle of the closest, but villagers had gathered along the road to pay tribute to the designer. About 15,000 people are estimated to have flocked to Milan over the weekend, where Armani's coffin was on display in the designer's own premises for two days.
All Armani stores in Italy were closed on Monday to show respect for the renowned fashion creator. Giorgio Armani will be buried in the family grave at the cemetery in Rivalta, where his parents and brother already rest.
Giorgio Armani was 91 years old. No cause of death has been stated, but according to the Italian Corriere della Sera, he suffered from liver failure.
