The trade was first reported by ESPN's NBA reporter, Shams Chanaria, and hit like a bomb in the American sports world. Although nothing is official yet, the information is credible, and several superstars have reacted to the trade.
"Wait, what? I'm feeling nauseous right now", writes NFL star Patrick Mahomes on X.
"It's crazy. Completely crazy. I never thought Luka (Doncic) would be traded. The NBA is a crazy league, anyway", says NBA star Kevin Durant to the NBA website.
For several players, the news was so shocking that they initially thought Chanaria's account had been hacked. Among them were the American OS players Bam Adebayo and Tyrese Haliburton.
"Has someone stolen Shams' phone??", wrote Embiid on X.
Chanaria writes that both Doncic and Davis were surprised by the trade, and were left out of the negotiations.
Thus, Luka Doncic, who has been selected to five NBA All Star matches and had the highest points average in the league last season, becomes teammates with LeBron James. For Anthony Davis, the move goes to Dallas Mavericks.
