Three podiums this season, but none in the sprint. Biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson changed that when he crushed all opposition at the World Cup in Ruhpolding. "I am incredibly proud," said the Swede.

After Hanna Öberg's impressive victory on Friday, where she showed Olympic-class form, Sebastian Samuelsson stepped forward on Saturday and did not want to be worse.

The Swedish star took command from the first lap and never let go. The 28-year-old won by more than 17 seconds ahead of Italy's Tommaso Giacomel and Norway's Isak Frey.

The victory was Samuelsson's first individual victory of the season.

"For the first time, I don't really know what to say. For some reason, I feel quite moved. This was awesome," Samuelsson says on SVT's broadcast.

He described his thoughts during the race, where his shooting was 100 percent.

"I'm just going to dare to go on, dare to go on. Don't stop, just keep going. It feels like I have some strange way of shooting, but for some reason it hits anyway," says Samuelsson and continues:

"I tried to stay grounded throughout the standing series. I'm incredibly proud of how I did it."

Martin Ponsiluoma also had a strong race. However, it wasn't enough to secure a podium finish. The Swede finished sixth.

Jesper Nelin finished in 17th place, Viktor Brandt came 25th, Henning Sjökvist 33rd and Malte Stefansson 59th.
