Maxwell has claimed that the verdict against her in 2021 was “a total miscarriage of justice” and has requested that it be overturned, citing new evidence among other things.
But a federal judge in New York has responded to Maxwell's claims by saying they are "based on speculation, distortions and/or outright fabrications."
Last year, the US Supreme Court rejected Maxwell's request for a stay of execution, and the current request is, according to the AP, a last-ditch attempt to overturn the 20-year prison sentence after all appeals have been rejected.
Now 64, Maxwell, according to prosecutors in the trial against her, played a crucial role in helping Epstein find, befriend and prepare the victims for his abuse.
