Despite 39 points from the superstar Luka Doncic, it is playoff for Slovenia in the European Championship in basketball. The World Champion Germany won in Riga with 99–91 and will now face the surprise team Finland in the semifinal. A crazy three-pointer was the start of the Germans' comeback.

The German basketball star Tristan da Silva had a few meters left to the middle of the field when he sent the ball away. The signal for the third period break sounded when the ball was in the air, but the crazy three-pointer was a fact.

It ignited Germany. About a minute into the final period, it was tied at 74–74. A three-pointer signed Andreas Obst shortly afterwards put Germany in the lead for the first time since the start of the match.

Admittedly, Slovenia came back, but Germany was able to hold on for a 99–91 victory.

For a long time, however, it looked bleak for the World Champion from 2023. Slovenia was led by Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic and led 51–45 after the first half. At that time, Doncic had scored 22 points.

The 26-year-old Doncic was, however, all too alone to upset the team machine Germany. He stopped at 39 points, but there will be no more European Championship points for Doncic. The tournament is over.

Germany will now face the surprise team Finland – who knocked out the gold favorite and Olympic Games bronze medalist Serbia in the round of 16 – in Friday's semifinal. In the other semifinal, Turkey and Greece meet.

The final and bronze match will be decided on Sunday.
