After Germany's World Cup exit against Paraguay in the round of 16, Julian Nagelsmann stepped down as national team coach. Since then, all eyes have been on Klopp, who has himself confirmed that there is interest.
"I can confirm that talks are ongoing. It picked up speed quite quickly," he said on German MagentaTV in connection with the World Cup.
Now the parties appear to have reached an agreement, and he is expected to be presented at Friday's press conference, several German media outlets report.
Klopp was a popular coach at Liverpool for nine years until 2024, where he won several major titles.
