The car attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, has claimed a sixth fatality, according to German media.

An additional five people, including a nine-year-old, were killed when a car drove into a crowd at the market on the Friday before Christmas. Around 200 people were injured.

The driver was a doctor from Saudi Arabia, who is said to have lived in Germany for nearly two decades. He has been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.

The police have not been able to establish the motive behind the attack.
