The Czech Republic beat Denmark 3-2 in the round of 16 and will face Canada in the quarterfinals of the Olympic hockey tournament on Wednesday.

After a goalless first period, things really got going in the second. The Czech Republic appeared to be heading into the third period with a safe 3–1 lead, but a crucial Danish penalty came with less than three minutes left in the second.

Denmark then chased an equalizer in the third, helped by two Czech penalties. But despite that and a six-on-five game in the final minutes, the game ended 3–2 in favor of the Czech Republic after a scoreless third period.

Germany and Switzerland also advanced to the quarter-finals after victories against France (5–1) and Italy (3–0) respectively earlier on Tuesday.

Germany now faces Slovakia, while Switzerland faces Finland.
