Ski jumpers can't possibly have a fear of heights? Yes, the German Philipp Raimund has it. And therefore refrains from jumping in the world's highest ski jump.

"As some of you may know, I have acrophobia. Usually, I have it under control, and it's usually no problem during ski jumping. But now and then, I have problems (especially in ski flying) with my body reacting without me being able to control it", writes Raimund on Instagram.

The 24-year-old writes that he has his acrophobia under control in 95 percent of all jumps.

"But when it comes to Planica, I'm not taking the risk".

Planica in Slovenia has the world's largest ski flying hill, intended for ski flying where the hills are longer and the jumps become longer. And it's precisely ski flying in Planica that concludes the World Championship season for the ski jumpers this weekend.

Raimund is in 22nd place overall in the World Cup.
