German federal police will be allowed to shoot down drones in the future, announces Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt. The message comes after several drone incidents in German airspace.

According to the new bill, the police will be allowed to use disruptive devices or take "physical measures, i.e. catch and shoot down drones", says Dobrindt.

Germany has reported several drone observations over military bases, industrial areas and other critical infrastructure during the year. Last weekend, the airport in Munich was closed twice due to drone observations.

Then, Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Russia is suspected of being behind most of the drone flights.
