German authorities are offering one million euros - equivalent to 10.6 million kronor - for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators behind a massive power outage in Berlin in early January.

The arson attack on cable lines in the German capital left around 45,000 households in southwest Berlin without power for several days. Many also lost their heating, as the local heating system was affected by the power outage.

Vulkangruppe, a left-wing extremist group, claimed responsibility for the attack in a letter. The text stated that the action was directed against the fossil fuel industry.

The group has been charged with terrorism, arson, unconstitutional sabotage and disruption of public services, but none of the perpetrators have been identified.
