German Industrial Production Surges Beyond Expectations in July

Industrial production in Germany, the EU's largest economy, increased more than expected in July, show fresh figures from the German Ministry of Economic Affairs.

German Industrial Production Surges Beyond Expectations in July

The increase was 1.3 percent compared to June, which can be compared to an average forecast among analysts of 1.0 percent. In June, industrial production in Germany decreased by 0.1 percent according to revised figures.

In annual rate, the increase in industrial production in July was 1.5 percent, which can be set against an expected decline of 0.3 percent.

At the same time, figures from the statistics office Destatis show that Germany's trade surplus shrunk to 14.7 billion euros in July, down from 15.4 billion euros in June. Analysts had expected an increase to 15.5 billion in July.
