German import prices rise more than expected in August, Destatis says

Analysts had expected retail sales to rise by an average of 1.5 percent in August compared with July and to fall by 0.5 percent compared with August last year, according to Bloomberg.

Import prices in Germany rose 8.3 percent in August compared with the same month last year, a separate report from Destatis shows. That compares with an average forecast among analysts of an 8.0 percent annual increase in import prices, according to Bloomberg.
