The ZEW index, which measures future confidence among German investors and analysts, rises to 39.3 in October. It is somewhat below the analysts' average forecast of 41.1, according to a compilation by the news agency Bloomberg.
The increase can be compared to 37.3 in September.
"Despite continued global uncertainty and lack of clarity regarding the state's investment program, the ZEW indicator rises slightly in October", says ZEW chief Achim Wambach in a statement.
