German economic sentiment improves slightly in September, ZEW index shows

The index, which measures the outlook for economic development, rose to 34.7. That was less than expected. Analysts had on average expected the increase to 40.0, according to a Bloomberg survey.

In August, the corresponding index was 34.2.

The current sub-index rose to minus 47.1. This compares with minus 61.1 in August and an average forecast of minus 52.1 for September.
