The ZEW chief Achim Wambach writes in a comment that investors are taking hold of the upcoming public investments that the new German government has promised.

"In combination with the latest interest rate cuts from the ECB, it can put an end to the German stagnation that has been going on for almost three years", he writes in the comment that Bloomberg has taken part of.

The ZEW index, which measures future confidence among German investors, rose to 47.5 in June. This can be compared to 25.2 in May and minus 14 as recently as in April.

An increase in future confidence was expected, but according to Bloomberg's compilation, the average forecast was only an increase to 35 in June.
