Interest rates on bonds with shorter maturities are also rising. Market participants are currently expecting the European Central Bank (ECB) - which is not expected to adjust its key interest rates in this afternoon's announcement - to raise its key interest rates twice before the end of the year.
Interest rates on ten-year Swedish government bonds have risen to 3.01 percent, the highest level since autumn 2023.
Higher market interest rates push stock markets lower and put upward pressure on mortgage rates with longer maturities. Variable mortgage rates, in turn, are most affected when policy rates are raised.
