Clooney will receive the honorary award for his lifetime achievement, and the citation emphasizes the actor's remarkable professionalism. In all his roles, Clooney has also managed to "remain true to himself: ironic and melancholic, fascinating and reflective, brilliant and with unexpected depth," the film festival writes in its statement.
Among Clooney's many films are "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", "Syriana", the Ocean films - and "Jay Kelly" from last year, about a movie star who, after a lifetime in the service of the silver screen, receives an award at an Italian film festival.
