George Clooney and his family have been granted French citizenship. Clooney and his wife want to protect their children from growing up in Hollywood, CNN reports.

The American actor and his wife, lawyer Amal Clooney, have been granted French citizenship, as have their two children, twins Alexander and Ella. The family already owns property in France.

In an interview with Esquire , George Clooney previously expressed concerns about the harsh climate in Hollywood and its impact on his children.

"I don't want them to go around worrying about paparazzi," he tells the magazine.

Back in 2021, Clooney wrote an open letter to the media in which he pleaded with the media to keep pictures of his children away from the press, citing his children's safety.

France has strict privacy laws. It is illegal to photograph someone in a private place or to reveal personal information such as an address or phone number.
