After the Italian national football team's loss to Norway with 0-3 in the World Championship qualifying, Luciano Spalletti left his job.
The replacement is now clear. It will be the icon Gennaro Gattuso who takes over the prestigious job.
The 47-year-old and former Milan legend will be officially presented on June 19 and the Italian federation appears to be satisfied with its recruitment.
"He is a symbol of Italian football. The blue jersey is like a second skin for him," says chairman Gabriele Gravina in a statement.
Gennaro Gattuso has been coaching clubs such as Milan, Napoli, Valencia and Hajduk Split in recent years. As a player, he made 73 international appearances and was part of the team that won the World Championship gold in 2006.
