International Ski and Snowboard Federation (Fis) introduces gender testing for the World Championship in Falun 2027, the association states in a statement. "The policy will come into force in July 2026, with a first application at the World Championship, before it is introduced in the World Cup in the 2027/28 season.", the association writes.

In September, Fis announced on the association's website that they will introduce gender testing.

To TT, the Swedish Ski Association's Secretary General Pernilla Bonde said that it "is a policy for who will be allowed to compete in women's or men's competitions in all Fis sports".

The information we have received is that it applies immediately, from this season, said Bonde.

Then the association changed its mind.

Karin Mattsson, a member of Fis' board, told Dagens Nyheter that the communication had gone wrong and that it had not been decided how and when the gender test would be introduced.

But now a date has been set and a policy has been approved.

"The Fis Council has also approved a timeline for the introduction of the association's new eligibility policy", the association writes.

The final version is expected to be ready in April next year, before it is introduced at the World Championship in Falun 2027.

"The association is now collecting feedback from national associations and athletes, especially regarding the test procedure."

The World Championship in Falun 2027 will take place between February 24 and March 7.
