The important European hospital in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza has been forced to close after an Israeli attack, confirms Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

Thus, one of the functioning hospitals in Gaza can no longer operate, the organization writes. The hospital, among other things, conducted cancer treatment. According to the World Health Organization, Gaza's last cancer hospital has ceased to function.

The MSF-supported Nasser Hospital is now the only functioning one in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. Even that hospital was hit in Israeli attacks earlier in the week.

The Israeli attack on the hospital was the second in less than two months. The hospital was founded by the UN agency UNRWA with extensive support from the EU in 1989.

Israel's military claims to have targeted what is described as "terror infrastructure" under the hospital. The military has repeatedly claimed that Hamas has infrastructure under the hospital.
