The attack occurred in the city of Khan Yunis in the dark of night. Images from the scene show how a residential building has been almost completely bombed to pieces, with large amounts of concrete and debris scattered on the ground around.

Ten people, including seven children, were taken to the hospital as martyrs as a result of an Israeli air raid targeting the al-Farra family home in central Khan Yunis, according to the Hamas-controlled authority to the AFP news agency.

The Israeli military has not publicly commented on the attack on Khan Yunis, which is located in the southern part of Gaza. When the AFP news agency contacts the military, the response is that it will be investigated further.

Witnesses report that regular artillery fire from Israeli tanks is echoing in Khan Yunis.

Israel urged residents of the city of Gaza in the north to evacuate an area on Friday morning ahead of new bombings. In another update, it was announced that the Israeli military had attacked 40 "terror targets" in Gaza over the past 24 hours.

A ceasefire had been in place for two months in Gaza, until Israel broke it with new attacks on March 18. Since then, over a thousand people have reportedly been killed in Israeli attacks.

The Palestinian authorities in Gaza put the total death toll in the war at over 50,800.
