At least 14 people have been killed in nocturnal attacks on Gaza city, medical sources report to the news agency AP. Among the dead are two relatives of a hospital manager.

I was in shock and devastated to see my brother and his wife's bodies, says Mohammed Abu Salmiya, chief of Shifa hospital, to the news agency AFP.

Abu Salmiya worked at the emergency department when the bodies were taken to the hospital. According to another chief at Shifa hospital, six people from the same family were killed when their home was bombed on Saturday morning, who were relatives of Abu Salmiya.

The Palestinian Red Crescent states that an additional five people have been killed in another attack in the city.

A journalist from AFP reports that several ambulances with blaring sirens drove into Shifa hospital early on Saturday with several dead bodies. Another ambulance arrived at the same time with several injured.

During the past few days, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who have sought refuge in Gaza City have been urged to flee south to what Israel calls a humanitarian zone.

Israel's expanded offensive against Gaza City, which began on Monday, includes both air strikes and ground forces where the country wants to take control of the territory's largest city.
