The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms in a post on X that another attempt to "break the legal sea blockade" has been stopped.
The ships and activists on board will be taken to a port in Israel, it is further stated. The activists are safe and in good health but "are expected to be deported immediately" the post continues.
Initially, it was reported that three boats were attacked 220 kilometers from Gaza. Later, the FFC announced that eight boats were boarded within an hour. The convoy was sailing towards the Gaza Strip and was loaded with food and other necessities, according to the activists.
Recently, the Gaza convoy Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), with, among others, activist Greta Thunberg on board, was also boarded during its journey to Gaza.
Israel has maintained a land, sea, and air blockade of the Gaza Strip for many years. During the ongoing war, Israel has at times completely blocked humanitarian aid to the territory, which has contributed to the fully developed famine that prevails in Gaza City and its surroundings, according to the UN.
Corrected: In an earlier version of the text, the wrong Gaza convoy was stated.
