That you're doing something in space doesn't mean you're taking something away from Earth, said CBS journalist Gayle King, who is also Oprah Winfrey's best friend, when she countered the harsh words that spread on the internet after the spaceflight.
Emily Ratajkowski was one of those who reacted to the spaceflight with Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos' project Blue Origin. She said it was "beyond parody" to praise Mother Earth and at the same time "go up in a spaceship built and paid for by a company that single-handedly destroys the planet".
But Gayle King is now defending Bezos.
What Blue Origin wants to do is to take the waste and find a way to place it in space to make our planet cleaner. Jeff Bezos has so many ideas, and the people who work there are really dedicated to making our planet a better place.
The rocket "New Shepard" would have been in the air and space for eleven minutes, but they landed a couple of minutes before the scheduled time.
