On May 18, the nuclear engineering company Blykalla submitted its application to build a new nuclear power plant at Norrsundet in the municipality of Gävle.
The County Administrative Board in Gävleborg has now been tasked with developing a proposal for a construction plan, the government said in a press release.
The plan must include an environmental impact statement and a plan description. This includes how land and water areas will be used in establishing a nuclear facility and how the plan will be implemented.
The assignment must be reported no later than December 31 of this year.
On May 7, the Östergötland County Administrative Board received a corresponding assignment following an application to establish a nuclear facility in the municipality of Valdemarsvik.
