Gautam Adani agrees to pay $18 million settlement in U.S. court

This comes after he was indicted two years ago, accused of paying billions in bribes and misleading American investors in an energy project in India.

Adani was indicted during former President Joe Biden's administration. The New York Times now reports that he has enlisted the help of Robert Giuffra, one of President Donald Trump's personal lawyers. Adani, who is currently ranked 17th on Bloomberg's list of the world's richest people, has built his fortune through the industrial conglomerate the Adani Group. Initially focused on commodity trading, the group developed one of India's largest private ports and then expanded into the energy sector.
