The singles tournament in the Olympic Games ended in tears and anger for the American super star Coco Gauff.
The world number two lost to Donna Vekic, Croatia, in the third round with 6–7, 2–6.
The match heated up properly three games from the end when Vekic's serve landed near the baseline. The line judge ruled it out, a decision that was corrected by the chief judge Jaume Campistol and Vekic went on to take a 4–2 lead.
Gauff began arguing with Campistol and the game was delayed for a few minutes.
I never discuss such decisions. But he (the line judge) ruled it out before I hit the ball, said Gauff to Campistol.
