A barrel of North Sea oil cost $83 on Monday, compared with around $88 at the end of last week.

Fuel chains are lowering the price of gasoline by 25 öre, while diesel is being raised by the same amount, according to company prices, which are usually followed by equally large changes for private motorists.

The new gasoline price for private customers will be around SEK 15.20 per litre, while diesel will be around SEK 20.

This can be compared with approximately 15 and 17 kronor per litre before the war in the Middle East started on February 28.

The current price is affected by the summer tax cuts. On May 1, the energy tax was temporarily reduced, which meant a reduction at the pump of approximately 1 krona and 40 öre per litre for gasoline and diesel, respectively.

On July 1, the tax was temporarily reduced by 3 kronor per litre for gasoline and diesel.
