Gas prices rise to highest level in almost two months as Iran tensions boost supply fears

This weekend's new American bombing raids against Iran and Iranian attacks on targets in neighboring countries around the Persian Gulf are raising concerns about production and supply disruptions.

After this spring's largely curtailed deliveries from the Middle East - as a result of the Iran war - EU fossil gas stocks are only 52 percent full. This compares with the seasonal average of 67 percent.

The countries around the Persian Gulf account for around 20 percent of global LNG supplies, liquefied natural gas, which is an important part of the EU's energy mix - and, through cross-border electricity trade, also a factor affecting Swedish electricity prices.
