A passenger car is leaking vehicle gas in connection to a parking garage in central Varberg. The parking garage and surrounding area are cordoned off.

The rescue service is on site and is monitoring the leak.

We have managed to stop two out of three gas tanks, but will remain and monitor the leak until the last tank is emptied, says Thomas Andersson, duty officer at the rescue service.

At present, there is no imminent risk of explosion, according to Andersson.

It cannot be completely ruled out, but we have had measurements throughout the operation and thanks to the strong winds, the risk is reduced.

There is no forecast for when the cordons can be lifted.

The police were previously on site to assist the rescue service, but have now left. There is no suspicion of crime in connection with the incident.
