Higgo managed the feat of incurring two penalty strokes even before he teed off in the major at Aronimink Golf Club. The 27-year-old was scheduled to start his round at 7:18 a.m. on Thursday morning, but only appeared on the tee after the other players in the three-ball had started teeing off.
Afterward, he offered an already classic quote:
I was there on time. But the rule is that if you're one second late, you're late.
Higgo is now firing his caddie, Austin Gaugert, who is seen on video yelling at the player to hurry to the tee, Golfweek writes.
Higgo's mistake in the PGA Championship proved costly. He missed the qualifying cutoff by one stroke.
