Vancor, co-founder and for several years the public face of the waste company, was sentenced in the district court to six years in prison for 19 counts of serious environmental crimes. The Court of Appeal writes that she and co-founder Thomas Nilsson have now been sentenced to prison terms of five years and four years and six months, respectively.
The waste company Think Pink dumped hundreds of thousands of tons of waste illegally at a large number of locations around Sweden over several years. The waste, mainly construction and demolition waste, was supposed to be sorted but was instead crushed, piled up or buried. It was left near water protection areas, unprotected stormwater wells, homes and protected coastal areas, among other places.
