Andersson, formerly of Vancor, was sentenced by the Svea Court of Appeal to five years in prison for 18 counts of serious environmental crime. Several other people were sentenced to prison. Andersson is demanding that the Supreme Court acquit her completely.
Several other people are appealing to the Supreme Court, which will now decide whether the case will be granted leave to appeal and reopened or whether the Court of Appeal's ruling will stand. The vast majority of cases appealed to the Supreme Court are denied leave to appeal.
For several years, the waste company Think Pink dumped hundreds of thousands of tons of waste illegally at a number of locations in Sweden. The waste, mainly construction and demolition waste, was supposed to be sorted but was crushed and piled up or buried.
