Gangs Punish with Humiliation and Abuse

People who are "portaded" by criminals from areas where gangs operate can be punished with rapes, severe humiliation videos or with shootings, reports P4 Gothenburg.

Videos that the channel has taken part in show, among other things, a naked man being forced to drink his own urine and another man crying with a pistol pressed into his mouth.

These films or images are used as a threat, so that you don't come back to the area, says a person with ties to a criminal network to P4 Gothenburg.

Those who are punished are considered traitors, for example, for sharing information about drug sales or murder plans to rival gangs.

In the local police area of Greater Gothenburg South, they have long experience of countering the gangs' own power systems.

Unfortunately, it's a picture we're familiar with, says Johan Dire, acting local police area chief, and continues:

Where they humiliate each other in the most horrific ways, commit regular rapes, urinate on each other and film it.

Dire does not think that the gangs have power that is "convincing" in the local police area, but says that there are examples in the country and Gothenburg of when the networks gain significant influence and create a culture of silence.
