The man was convicted in the district court, among other things, for hiring children to perform a number of serious violent crimes in the Gothenburg area.

Now the court of appeal increases his prison sentence by two months, to 18 years in prison. He is convicted, among other things, of aiding and abetting an attempted murder at Kungsmässan in Kungsbacka last year, when a 14-year-old boy tried to shoot a man to death inside the shopping center.

The man, who has been pointed out as highly placed in one of the criminal gangs in the Gothenburg area, is also convicted of involvement in two explosions last year.

The gang leader, who was recently placed in a remand prison at the prison in Borås while waiting for the verdict, escaped under notable circumstances together with a fellow inmate. The men, still dressed in the Prison and Probation Service's green clothes, were arrested less than a day later outdoors, about two miles from the remand prison.
